Jonathan gave him a sharp look in surprise but after a moment just nodded in acceptance. It was, after all, exactly what he'd intended to talk to Alliaravar about, so there was little point in denying it.

"Not an ailment, exactly." Gritting his teeth and bracing himself, Jonathan reached out just enough to put his hand in the beam of light from the rising sun.

Immediately there was a smell of burning flesh and smoke as cracks appeared in Jonathan's skin, painful and burning red. He stifled a groan of pain and pulled his hand back immediately, breathing heavily as it slowly healed.

"I am a vampire," he said flatly, prepared for whatever might come, even if it were fleeing this place with hunters on his tail. "I understand you likely won't want me here, and I will leave this evening if you wish. But I cannot go out during the day."
