"Hmmm." Mary has a very good point, and Jonathan is surprised that no one else has thought of it, although the chaos of the night is likely to blame for that. As the sun is beginning to peak over the horizon, he can feel his own fatigue catching up to him as well.
"Even if she had, doing so on the first night requires a level of planning that would take some time. Perhaps longer than any announcement would have given them, and I doubt she would have said it was happening at night. More likely she would report us as being present the following day, in which case an attack would be more expected later."
Jonathan gave her a faint smile. "You have a keen mind, Mary. Perhaps you should speak with Her Majesty about the matter? Or one of her court? Even if they've considered it already, we could be in a unique position to help."
