[ mission 01. 🔥 open. ]

Who: Daylight and You!
When: Through March 07 and the rest of the month of March.
Where: Around the city. Will be noted in the prompts below.
What: Daylight being a busy bee throughout the month. The results of said busy beeing may vary. (An influence job log the Loren's Lament, A Somber Affair, Dark Knights jobs. Plus a special assignment.)
Warnings: Possible depictions of violence.

PROMPT I.
[ though daylight had moved out of the queen's residence, he sometimes likes to stop by and see what's going on. mostly because some of the folks he likes still lived here and it was a guaranteed place for him to find them if he's unsure of their current location.

it didn't hurt that majority of the residence was largely available to the public and folks were encouraged to drop by and see others. in the wake of learning that someone in the residence needed help with some paperwork, daylight thought maybe he could help out. maybe all that training under dialup through data management can finally come into use.

but, after remembering how everyone reacted to him when he first entered the dining hall, daylight made it a point to travel to the residence in his avaform in order to avoid arousing interest/suspicion/threats/etc from others. can never be too careful.

he makes a turn around a hallway when he accidentally smacks into someone. he stumbles back, letting out a little 'whoa!' in surprise as his avaform ripples and digitizes for a second, trying to keep its form together before he snaps back into proper appearance of a charming young man with dark hair and darker eyes. ]

Oh! Hey! Sorry to bump into you like that. I was kind of distracted there. [ daylight smiles and can only hope to the venerated thirteen that it is a proper smile and not, like a grimace or something.

and before it can be asked: anyone who has spoken with daylight can tell that this is him due to his voice. yes. daylight. the giant robot who happens to come in the obvious red-and-gold paintjob. that daylight. ]

[ ooc; for the lorem's lament job! open to everyone. ]

PROMPT II.
[ the old town bazaar has been through a lot in the last two months and even daylight can tell when he makes his way through it. there were some buildings still showed signs of damage from fires and riots. there was graffiti here and there, calling for this or that to be stopped at all costs. there were people now suspicious of everything and everyone around them.

especially if one of those 'everyone' happens to be a plus ten feet tall mechanoid.

daylight does his best to keep his helm held high when he passes by folks who stare at him. long as he minds his business and they mind their business, they can get through the day without any problems for anyone and oh hey. is that a lady on the ground ahead of him? though her back is turned to him, daylight can hear her sniffles and her breathless self-encouragement about no one forgetting her mother.

that plucks at daylight's core easily enough and he trots over to her side, not really thinking about the consequences yet. ]

Hey... Hey, miss, I heard you and, um, do you need any hel-

[ the curious woman turns to his voice and, upon seeing him, screams.

a flinching daylight reels back, optics wide and blooming light. he tries (and fails) to keep the girl calm, waving his servos back and forth desperately to try and get her to stop screaming (and now sobbing) at the top of her lungs. ]

Oh no! [ oh no! ] Oh no! Please! Let me explain, miss! I only want to help you out...!

[ it doesn't look like she's hearing him out. she falls to her knees, hands covering her face as she huddles protectively next to the plant she was digging at seconds ago, letting all her emotions out there in broad daylight.

it looks like the stress of losing her mother and the other events that have occurred has caused the young lady to finally tip over at the slightest provocation. and, unfortunately for him, it seems that daylight is that slight provocation.

daylight stands there like a deer caught in headlights, servos hovering over her form since he both wants to pat and rub her back and pull away and leave her be. hopefully someone can help. otherwise some of the more twitchy looking blood may decide to take matters into their own hands. ]

[ ooc; for the a somber affair job! open to everyone. ]

PROMPT III.
[ there were a lot of folks from the river north were disappearing during the night and it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together when you consider the bodies that are found the next morning.

daylight, upon hearing these troubling events, has taken it upon himself to become an escort of sorts for those who needed to go back to and from the river north during the events for a week straight. it's not much but at least the thugs are less likely to bother someone when they have their own giant friend keeping watch over them.

it just so happens to be a night he's escorting two young men back out of the area when he sees someone in the distance.

immediately daylight is alert and aware of his surroundings. he hides the two men behind him, his winglets flaring out in a subconscious attempt to make himself look big as possible. best to make the first move and make them know he sees them before they see him- ]

Hey! Buddy! You shouldn't be out alone at this hour, buddy! Do you need me to escort you?

[ ooc; for the dark nights job! open to everyone. ]

PROMPT IV.
[ after trying to help out with the spree of murders and assaults happening at the the river north, daylight finds himself being more welcomed in this part of draega. of course there will always be people who still gawk and stare and avoid his optics when he tries to catch his eyes but no one actively tells him to go away. that's nice. that's an improvement.

certainly makes shopping easier here. he's here on a special assignment, trawling through the booths and vendors in search of... something.

so focused he is on the task that he finds himself bumping into someone and bumping into them hard. while he may be able to keep his balance and not fall flat on the ground, there's a chance the poor soul isn't as lucky and, quick as he can, daylight tries to rush to their aid and apologise. even if they didn't fall or not because oh wow this is embarrassing.

what a way to almost end the month: bumping into someone. didn't he already do this at the almost beginning too...? ]

Oh wow! Sorry! I'm so sorry! [ daylight's winglets flutter, revealing how flustered he is by these turn of events. ] I didn't mean to hit you! I swear! Are you okay?

[ ooc; for the special assignment of daylight! open to one to two people only. ]

PROMPT WILDCARD.
[ ooc; want to do something else? feel free to do it here! also, you’re welcome to hit me up/plot with me via my plurk prognostic if there’s something specific you want. ]

'S fine. [Rhus makes a patting motion in the air with one hand as if to comfort the big man, even if he doesn't actually touch Daybreak. A little habit of his, when he prefers to keep his distance until a person he does not mind the company of lets him know that they're fine with physical contact.] I don' mind talk much, I let others do so as much as they please.

[Especially when others are willing to chat to fill the spaces, people never had problems doing so around him. Though sometimes they do forget that he listens, rather than simply thinking about something else.]

Tell me what you're lookin' for then, an' we shall see if it is here.

[Rhus' ears pull back a little as he stares at the... well, thing. What is he looking at? What in the world is this? Does he look like some expert on technology? He's no Ironworks engineer, not even a consultant! Just their resident technology wrecker.

He looks up at Daylight, the frown on his face just marring it with lines.]

What in the name o' th' Four Lords is a portable muter? [Well, he assumes what's on Daylight's hand is the device in question but... what does it do?]

Wh-- [The explanation is appreciated, but now Rhus understands the reasoning for it being a secret assignment.

But now Rhus is stuck. The Guilds asked Daylight to perform this service for them, and clearly they're preparing for something nasty, something that would hurt the Queen. So he has a dilemma ahead of him. Tell the Queen, or assist Daylight and keep his silence?]
... Well then.

I can see why it's an important task.

... Why's it they need so many?

[He is... well, not the smoothest at the moment. His old training has certainly left him, when he's so confused and still pondering what he should do.]

[He doesn't want to have to bloody report this if he finds some silver lining. He's rather desperate to find one just so he wont accidentally ruin something if it turns out to be an entirely innocent venture.]

... Right. So they need as many as they can get. [Except Rhus sees yet another issue with the entire thing.] Though... Why buy from merchants only for them to resell at a cheaper price?

That's losin' them money they may need for other things.

[Seems like what they have here is a failure to communicate.]

Oh. [Rhus' ears wiggle.] Hells, from the sounds of things, I thought it were somethin' entirely.

Ah, well, least you weren't doin' some experiment what were entirely strange. [Even if the idea of dampeners is still alarming for Rhus in some way. But at least he doesn't have to tell the Queen now.]

[personal profile] verstoned 2019-04-06 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well hopefully Daylight doesn't expect Rhus to foot the bill. He himself has only a limited amount in his current savings and he needs... a number of things. Even if he doesn't know which ones he may be able to find here.]

So you'll be spendin' a good amount in coin for your experimentation... [As one is wont to do. Not just in buying the devices themselves, but also in other materials. As a crafter, Rhus knows this well.

You have to spend money to make more... Except Daylight isn't doing this for the money, which makes the situation all the more awkward, to say the least.]
Is your purse ready for that?

You'll not be spendin' on just those muters, you know.

Right. [Rhus exhales through his mouth. Sometimes exuberance is more tiring than running through voidsent-infested ruins. He is by no means a lazy Miqo'te, and gods and kami know he needs to get outside every so often to stretch his legs and burn off so much excess energy... but he's not the kind of energetic that Daylight is.]

Aye, fine. From experience the brighter and earlier in the day, the less surly merchants tend to be. [Though it also tends to depend on location, Rhus supposes. Ishgardian merchants preferred to be quick about their business, given how painfully cold their city could be, and Ul'dahn ones tended to sit on the ground without a care in the world and let their customers come to them.]

Lead the way.
